From mobster to musician!

He might be earning Oscar buzz for his starring role in Black Mass, but Johnny Depp was all about the music Wednesday night when he took the stage with his supergroup, The Hollywood Vampires, for a fierce set while wife Amber Heard cheered him on at The Roxy in L.A.

Depp, 52, looked every bit the badass rocker as he stood onstage alongside bandmates Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan – throwing off his fedora as the show began to reveal the black-and-white bandana underneath.

Clutching his guitar and rolling up the sleeves on his white shirt to reveal his many tattoos, Depp seemed content to let his bandmates shine during the show, spending much of the set standing behind Duff McKagan (of Guns N’ Roses fame). But the star couldn’t hide his wide smile when the band played “Break On Through to the Other Side.”

His biggest fan in the audience? That would be wife Heard, 29, who arrived at the venue with five girlfriends in tow and sat on top of a banquette while sipping a cocktail in the VIP section. The Danish Girl star was spotted bobbing her head as they played “School’s Out for Summer,” and smiled frequently throughout the show as her eyes were fixed on her husband.

The band got assists from some musical VIPs during the set. The crowd went wild when Kesha stepped onstage in a black leotard, a black studded jacket and black platform heels to perform “Whole Lotta Love.” She came back later to join the band and fellow guests performers including Perry Farrell and Tom Morello for a mash-up of “School’s Out for Summer” and “Another Brick in the Wall.”

The killer show – which featured musical luminaries including Vince Neil, Steven Van Zandt and KISS’s Paul Stanley watching from the audience – ended with a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar,” and the band did not return for an encore despite loud cheers for one.

The gig reportedly raised money for MusiCares, a program that assists musicians in need – and is not the first time Depp has rocked out for charity.

Last month, the actor joined KISS legend Gene Simmons on stage to raise money for MendingKids.org, which funds corrective surgeries for children whose families can’t afford them.
